Moritz Marcus – not to be confused with his cousin of the same name, born in 1886 – was born in March 1887 in Lüneburg, the sixth and youngest child of Magnus Marcus Junior and his wife Sophie, née Levy. Most of his older siblings had died at a very young age. Sadly, Moritz also lived to be only one and a half years old: he died from scarlet fever in Lüneburg in October 1888 and was buried in the town"s Jewish cemetery.
