Wife of Mendel Meyer [*1821]
Emma Rachel Lazarus was born in Hamburg in 1832, the daughter of Moritz Lazarus and Jeanette, née Cohen. Around 1860, she married the Lüneburg produce merchant Mendel Meyer.
Emma Rachel gave birth to six children in Lüneburg between 1860 and 1868. Only three of them reached adulthood: her daughter Emma and her son Ephraim Albert died of measles as infants in quick succession in the spring of 1865, while her youngest child Robert died shortly after birth.
Emma Rachel Meyer died in 1879 and was buried in Lüneburg"s Jewish cemetery. Mendel Meyer died as a widower in 1888 and was buried in the same cemetery.
