Fanny Cohn was born in 1852. She married merchant Louis Leß (Less) and lived with him in Thorn in West Prussia (now Torun in Poland). She became a widow before the First World War. She presumably left the city when Thorn was ceded to Poland, moving first to Frankfurt am Main and then to Lüneburg in 1921. Fanny was possibly the mother or an aunt of Siegmund Leß, who had also come to Lüneburg from Thorn shortly before. They lived together at Am Sande 4.

In August 1927, Fanny Leß fell ill and was admitted to the state sanatorium on Wienenbüttler Weg. She died there a few months later and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Lüneburg.d
