Pauline Polack was born in Hamburg in 1841. In the 1860s, she married merchant Julius Wolff from Dannenberg. They initially lived in Dannenberg. They had five children who were born in Dannenberg and Lüneburg.

In 1875, the family moved to Lüneburg. Under the name "P. Julius Wolff", they opened a clothing store in Lüneburg, initially at Kleine Bäckerstraße 6, and from 1897 at Große Bäckerstraße 22.

Pauline Wolff died from tuberculosis in 1883 and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Lüneburg. Julius was left alone with five children. He got married again a few years later.
