Hermann Horwitz, cattle dealer and innkeeper
Hermann Horwitz was born in Bünde in Westphalia in 1857. He came to Lüneburg in 1885 and settled there as a cattle dealer. He was probably related to Meyer Horwitz, also a cattle dealer from Bünde, who arrived in Lüneburg a few years later.
In 1887 Hermann Horwitz married Bertha Naumann, who came from Bisses in Hesse. Between 1887 and 1897 they had six children, including Albert, who was the only one to remain in Lüneburg.
When Hermann Horwitz died in 1931, he left his son Albert a thriving livestock business with horses and cows, which was a firm favourite in Lüneburg and the surrounding area.
Hermann Horwitz was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Lüneburg.
