Sarah Zwirn, nee Feintuch [*1892]

Born on 20.12.1892 in Bukaczowce, Galicia, Austria-Hungary (today Bukatschiwzi, Ukraine), died on 31.05.1925 in Lüneburg at the age of 33 years

Sara Feintuch was born in 1892, the daughter of Marcus Leo Feintuch and his wife Esther, née Hauptmann. She was born in the small village of Bukaczowce in Galicia, which at that time belonged to Austria-Hungary. It is not known whether Sara had any siblings.

Her father, the salesman Marcus Feintuch, moved from Bukaczowce to Lüneburg in 1914. Sara and her mother lived in Vienna for a time during World War I, and in 1917 they also came to Lüneburg. The family lived in various places as lodgers. In 1919, the three moved to Wandfärberstraße and remained there for several years.

As a young woman, Sara worked as a peddler and traveled a lot. She married Tobias Zwirn, a merchant from Hanover (possibly only in a religious ceremony – in any case, she is sometimes referred to as “unmarried”). In May 1925, she gave birth to a daughter in Lüneburg, whom she named Hanna. A few days later, Sara Zwirn, née Feintuch, died in childbirth. She was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Lüneburg.

In the fall of the same year, her father Marcus Feintuch also died in Lüneburg. Sara"s daughter Hanna seems to have been raised by Sara"s mother Esther, first in Lüneburg and later in Hanover. They may have returned to Galicia later on. Around 1927, all traces of the family are lost.
