In 1875, merchant Julius Wolff came to Lüneburg, together with his wife Pauline Wolff, née Polack. He opened a clothing store in Lüneburg under the name "P. Julius Wolff". Initially, it was located at Kleine Bäckerstraße 6, and from 1897 at Große Bäckerstraße 22.
The couple had five children, who were born in Dannenberg and Lüneburg. Pauline Wolff died in 1883 and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Lüneburg. Julius was left alone with the five children.
Julius Wolff married again in 1886: his second wife was Henriette, née Lewinsohn, from Nauen. In 1889, their son Paul Elijahu was born. He died far too early after just six months. In 1893, a second child was born dead.
Julius Wolff died in 1905 and was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Lüneburg. His widow Henriette then left the town.
