Otto Alexander Jonasson was the second of six sons born to Isaak Joseph Jonasson, a merchant in Lüneburg, and his wife Caroline, née Hammerschlag. He was born in August 1857. Six months before his birth, his older brother Carl Joseph had died at the age of one.
Otto Alexander grew up with his younger brothers, who were born in the following years, in the family"s large house on Lüneburg"s market square. He became a merchant like his father. The Lüneburg registry records show that he went away for his military service in 1879. Otherwise, however, he seems to have lived and worked in Lüneburg. Otto Alexander Jonasson died in Lüneburg in 1888 and was buried in the city"s Jewish cemetery.
