Amalia Horwitz was born in Wusterhausen “in the region of Prussia” - presumably Wusterhausen/Dosse in Brandenburg, where there was a small but significant Jewish community in the 18th century.
She came to Lüneburg around 1816 and married merchant Levi Isaak Ahrons, who had the status of a "protected Jew" since 1796. He had long run his parents" business together with his widowed mother Jette Ahrons. Around 1815, he was finally able to set up his own business, marry and start a family. So far we know of three children born in the following years: Dorette, Isaac and Adolph.
Amalia Ahrons, née Horwitz, died in Lüneburg in May 1830 and was buried in the town"s Jewish cemetery. This cemetery had only existed since 1823, and Amalia was one of the first members of the community to be buried here. Her widower Levi Isaak Ahrons lived in Lüneburg until 1855 and was buried in the same cemetery.
