Simon Moses Warenheim was born in Hildesheim in 1827, the son of Emanuel Warenheim and Zerline née Zehlheim. He was, among other things, a tutor in Börry near Hameln as well as a teacher of the synagogue community in Grohnde-Ohsen and in Pyrmont, before coming to Lüneburg in 1856 as the successor of the long-time synagogue teacher Hermann Calmsohn.

In February 1857, the journal “Der israelitische Volkslehrer” praised Warenheim"s activities at his new place of work: "From Lüneburg we receive a letter that the teacher, Mr. Warenheim, formerly from Pyrmont, who is well known through these newspapers, has been employed as a teacher and cantor in Lüneburg since November of last year and has begun his ambitious activities there with the formation of a new choir association. Together with the teacher Mr. Calmsohn, who has been working there for 18 years, he has also founded an Israelite secondary and commercial school, combined with a boarding house, which we wish the best progress with Mr. Warenheim"s good intentions."

In 1857, Simon Moses Warenheim married Julie Wolf in Lüneburg, daughter of Samuel Wolf and Mathilde née Eisenmann from Pyrmont. Simon Moses Warenheim died from typhoid fever as early as 1862. He was buried in Lüneburg"s Jewish cemetery. His widow Julie remained in Lüneburg.

His successor as teacher of the synagogue community was Louis Löwenstein who also did not stay in Lüneburg for long-
