Grete was the eighth and last child of Hirsch Lengel, a merchant from Lüneburg, and his wife Bertha, née Lirt. She was born in Lüneburg in September 1910. She died in April 1912, not yet two years old. Grete Lengel was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Lüneburg.
